Strawberry Colada

Strawberry Colada

Another tasty colada is the strawberry colada. You can use fresh fruit if you have, but you also can use frozen once. Let them defrost, mix the fruits in a blender with some lemon juice and a bit of strawberry syrup and you have strawberry mash. You can use it for many cocktails like frozen strawberry margarita or fraisini too.

Ingredients:
6 cl of mashed strawberries
5 cl Havana Club, aged 3 years
3 cl Cream of Coconut
2 cl strawberry syrup
1 splash of cream
12 cl pineapple juice

Preparation:
Mix the ingredients very well. You can use a blender or an electric cocktail shaker for this. Shaking it manuelly is hard, because of the smashed strawberries sitting on the bottom of your shaker. You have to shake fast and long to get everything mixed up.
Serve in a grand cru glass or a goblet. Garnish with a slice of pineapple and a strawberry.

Crazy Tip

Crazy Tip

I have a crazy tip for you: The less ingredients a cocktail has, the harder it is to mix. But if it is mix well, these cocktails are the best. A classic cocktail with only two ingredients is the martini cocktail. You have to be very experienced to mix a perfect one.

Another one is the crazy tip, a sweet after-dinner cocktail:

Ingredients:
5 cl Cointreau
4 cl Cream of coconut

Preparation:
Shake ingredients and fill in a chilled cocktail glass. Serve without any fruits. If you made no mistakes, you will taste neither of the ingredients but have a round and well balanced drink.

Piña Colada

Piña Colada

If you need a dessert, take a Piña Colada. This drink is sweet, creamy and fruity. It was the ‘in-cocktail’ ten years ago, and I remember my first cocktail-party where I made as much coladas as all other cocktails together.

A colada is a longdrink with rum, coconut cream and juice. Piña is spanish for pineapple so we have to take pinapple juice. I add some cream, to make it smoother.

Ingredients:
5 cl Havana Club, aged 3 years
3 cl Cream of Coconut
1 Splash of cream
10 – 12 cl pinapple juice

Preparation:
Mix all indredients well. There are three different ways to mix it: You can shake it, which is a very fine way to do, but doesn’t give you enought foam on the top. You can blend it, which makes him creamy but smashes the ice, so it gets watery. The best way to do, is to use an electric cocktail shaker. An electric cocktail shaker is a little twirling-stick which goes very fast and mixes all ingredients without smashing the ice. You get a creamy cocktail with some nice foam on the top, without becoming watery – very good. (I have no electic cocktailshaker, so I have to shake.) Serve in a grand cru glass or a goblet. Add a slice of pineapple and a cocktail cherry.

You can add some dark rum to make it taste a little bit rougher.

Cuba Libre

Cuba Libre

Let’s start with a classic highball. A highball is what some people call a longdrink. While a longdrink is a shaken or stired cocktail served in a longdrink glass, a highball is a drink with only two ingredients: alcohol and softdrink.

This drink contains three different ingredients, which makes him taste better.

Ingredients:
5 cl Havana Club, aged 3 years
1/2 lime
cola

Preparation:
Cut half lime in four slices and speeze into a longdrink glass. Fill glass up to the half with crushed ice then add Havana Club. Fill up with coke.

The original drink is mixed with coke but I prefer afri cola, because it tastes better to me. Always use Havana Club, which is in my eyes the best rum for mixing.
